Today's lesson!!

Some interesting journal entries were made yesterday. It’s always nice to have time to read them in depth.

There were a few of you that talk about VR drama and how you wish it would just stop. Here’s the thing thou, the more you bitch and write about the more you only exasperate the situation.

Get wise and ignore it, push it aside for the crap that it is and move on.

I'm still having fun with the ''Your Browsing History" tab, if only I could understand it! lol

regarding the browser history thingy... I stay logged-in all day at work; about 8-9 hours per day. But the browsing history says "4 hours 23 minutes" -- WTF?

(see, I didn't even MENtion the drama!)

If Music Be The Food Of Life ..........

14:38 Apr 10 2009
Times Read: 772

Most profiles I read tell me that the person has a love for music and will die without it and that it is there life.

I too have a reference to music on my profile I even have a player that I change from time to time to suit my mood …. Only because I can’t change the colour of my eyes :-p

Music is a great pass time, hobby or tool to use but we should never get it out of perspective.

It’s a shame that those that claim music is a very big part of there life didn’t choose literature.

Daddy says........

On reading through the journal I’m finding it funny, no, that’s not the right word. I’m reading in amazement that so many adults are ready to ‘pop’ at each other when it comes to ways to protect the kids on this site.

We can’t be talking about our own kids as if anyone felt that passionate about protecting their kids their kids wouldn’t be on this site period.

My kid loves reading the journals on this site, but will only do so when I’m there ‘and ‘the journals I select …. It’s simple for me, there is more internet security on her pc that she sometimes has trouble loggin’ into the kids sites that are allowed. But I don’t care, it stays.

It doesn’t matter that the ways we protect any kid are right or wrong, what does matter is the intention to protect.

It’s sometimes enough to make an undesirable character aware that descent people are there and just watching.

As for the kids themselves, there is very little that can be done as kids will always be kids … but again I’ll say it, it doesn’t hurt to try.

i know quite a few parents who feel as you do about their kids and the net, i am one of them. my kids were allowed limited net access and only with supervision. my daughter is 11 and so will not be allowed to have any online accounts at all until she turns 13 and those will be closely monitored by myself and her Stepfather. my son has an account here only, at the moment. i read his emails, journal entries and coven posts. i talk with his CM's, ACM's and friends. my presence is felt and known.

there are a lot of kids however who's parents treat the computer as yet another babysitter. they do not monitor their children's activities, does that mean that when a child creates a profile on Facebook, Myspace or even here that they should be allowed to run amok? if you were walking down the street and saw a child playing ball on the center line and a car was coming would you ignore them and keep walking or would you shout a warning, maybe run out and push them out of the cars path? that is what we are dealing with here. children playing with something they do not fully comprehend, the net. needing guidance and supervision at all costs. as an adult and a parent i feel an obligation to all children, to watch over and protect them. to attempt to guide them.

yes it is their choice as to whether they will heed my warnings but i will not be one of those people who stands idly by, believing that their presence here indicates a maturity they may not have. things are not that black and white.

Honestly my boys are monitored on the computer when they are on the net. But other then that they have free reign on their computer. IMy youngest son (12) has an interest in VR and the SFsite here. Maybe in a year or two I might allow him access to this site but not right now. agree with everything you have said here BloodLife, But what do you do when the parent uses sites like these or the internet period to play the baby sitting role?
